Luxury Garage Sale specializes in upscale consignment. Selling? They offer an all-inclusive service that includes an in home consultation while taking a 35% commission. Buying? Check out their site for eBay auctions offering items like Chanel blazers and dresses from Express.

“the whole eco aspect of reusing is great”

The ladies are well suited for their new gigs. Lindsay has spent time in NYC honing her skills at WWD and Style.com while Brielle has worked in fashion PR and event planning. And Luxury Garage Sale is right on time. “Right now people are downsizing and on the flipside people are looking for deals,” says Brielle, “and the whole eco aspect of reusing is great,” adds Lindsay.

Brielle and Lindsay both agree that Chicago fashion is more conservative than other cities, with many of their more popular items being suits and blazers, but they are also noticing things loosening up with more “fashion forward” pieces.  Chicago’s Wicker Park and Division Street areas are some of their top places to trend spot.

“we want our stuff to be gems”

“A store front for resale is not as exciting, we want our stuff to be gems,” says Lindsay, so don’t hold your breath for a store or even a clothing line for that matter. Luxury Garage Sale enjoys their current position online but also looks forward to hosting more shopping events and creating hype around pop ups. They also plan on partnering with a steady rotation of charities, such as Dress for Success and ourtime.org.

“We don’t want to be known for just fashion,” insists Lindsay, and with a growing selection of art and home items we’re sure they won’t. Lindsay experienced a very artistic upbringing while Brielle grew up in the family antiques business. They’re currently building relationships with galleries and auction houses to solidify their stock.

But the million dollar question is how do they resist the temptation to buy everything that comes in? “We get the same high from handling it,” Brielle admits. Sounds like these business women have silenced their inner shopaholic. Everything must go indeed.
